Cataloochee Ski Area youth racing programs are associated with local area middle and high schools, with coaches as the point of contact at each. If you are unsure whether your school participates in the racing program, inquiries can be sent to racing@cataloochee.com. If your school does not participate, we also offer the option to race independently. Middle school racing is broken down into two age groups: 8-11 and 12-14.
All races are a modified giant slalom, and NASTAR software is utilized for timekeeping. As such, registration and annual waivers must be completed at NASTAR.com prior to racing. Helmet, goggles, and a valid slope pass are all required for EACH race. Equipment rentals are available on a daily basis.
Finals will be held Sunday, March 3rd from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
After purchasing your package, you can complete the online forms which will accompany your confirmation receipt via email. Waivers can be signed in person when you go to pick up race passes.
Required Documents:
1. Participant Release Form
2. Skier / Rider Release of Liability
3. NASTAR Registration Form
4. Proof of slope pass purchase/season pass
Race passes are valid on your respective race day from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM beginning Tuesday, January 9, 2024, through Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Passes will also be valid on Race Finals Day Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Results for all races will be available on the internet at Live-Timing.com. Use your smart phone to keep track of how you ran. Real time results are generally available within a few seconds after your run. Live-Timing is NOT PERFECT! Do not challenge race officials because of something you see there. Bring the issue to your coach and they will look into it. All results will be reviewed and corrected if necessary at the conclusion of the race.
After the race, the times will be separated by gender and discipline and submitted to NASTAR.com for posting. Final results are normally available later that night or the next day.
